FAQ About Volunteering at Thrift on Woodlawn

Why does Thrift on Woodlawn need volunteers?

Thrift on Woodlawn supports the global relief, development and peace work of Mennonite Central Committee and local partner Working Men of Christ. As part of a network of MCC Thrift Shops that have been around for over 40 years, we follow a business model that relies on volunteer personnel to carry out the receiving of donations, pricing and displaying of items, and providing customer service to shoppers. A few paid staff carry out the day to day managing logistics to ensure consistency and accountability and to make sure volunteers have the resources they need to have a meaningful volunteer experience.
